After putting a 2-story addition on the historic home next door [on the right in these photos], the homeowners of this 1905 Queen Anne decided to hire us in 1995 to do a similar but larger project. The old 1-story section and deck were removed and 1100 square feet of space were added along with a full basement under the new section. The deck was also part of the job. The 1st story work included a new kitchen, pantry, mudroom, bathroom, and family room with masonry fireplace. The 2nd story work included a master bedroom with masonry fireplace, bedroom closets, and bathroom.

After pricing the quarter-round beaded trim above from other sources we decided to make the turnings ourselves. We bought a lathe and turned all the bead, baseboard corner blocks, fireplace columns, and corner guards. The lathe is a unique woodworking tool because it takes quite a bit of skill, but is also very satisfying when you see the results.
