Finished kitchen above -
Interesting Find – [below] Part of this project involved turning a bedroom/pass-through room into a hallway, bathroom, and laundry room. This room had drywall over plaster, which all had to be removed down to the studs. We started on one wall by removing everything at once, which created quite a mess to clean up with the wooden lath, blown-in insulation, drywall, and plaster all together in a pile. We decided for the next wall that a better approach would be to first remove the drywall, clean it up, and then remove the plaster. By doing this we discovered this photo which seemed to be embedded into the plaster behind the drywall.
The photo shows what looks like a vacation home site. There is a home beyond the lake, a few people in the water, an older man and a young boy on the dock. Most of them are looking towards the camera. Unfortunately we had to destroy it to remove the plaster.

In 2008/09 we remodeled the master bedroom and replaced all of the windows.

New insulation and windows tightened up a drafty room without sacrificing daylight. The flooring was re-finished and wood trim was custom made to match.
An area rug, a floor lamp, a comfortable chair, a good book, and you're all set. |

The owner of this 1915 Historic District home was a referral from one of their neighbors, who we also worked for. They then hired us on 4 separate occasions for projects on their home. The photo to the left is of the finished kitchen, which was part of the first project, done in 2000. We also added an upstairs bathroom and laundry room and replaced the attic windows as part of this project.
Looking from the kitchen into the dining room – the cased opening with transom was part of the kitchen remodeling job. The glass from the old attic windows was used in making this transom. Old glass is prized in the Historic homes for its various flaws.

Basement remodeling in 2003 –
Basement kitchen before - The old sink and top combination was cast iron. Sometimes it's good when they "don't make them like they used to".
Basement kitchen after - The sink and cabinets were shifted to the right. The windows remained and are left of the upper cabinets.
